To enhance its video calling platform, Meet, Google has introduced a new Meetings tab in the Gmail app for Android. A change that, along with many others, was not welcomed by everyone.

While it may be useful on certain occasions, the reality is that the Meetings tab of gmail takes up more space than necessary and it is not surprising that there are those who find it somewhat annoying.

Fortunately, you can hide easily this card. In this guide, we explain how to do it step by step.

Gmail now includes a new meeting tab.

Hide the Google Meet tab in the Gmail app

The process for Getting rid of Google Meet in the Gmail app for Android is simple. You just have to follow the steps described below:

  1. On your mobile, open the Gmail app.
  2. Open the app's side menu and look for the "Settings" option. Touch it.
  3. Enter your Google account settings by tapping the email address.
  4. Find and uncheck the "Show Meet Tab for Video Calls" option.

That's all. From now on, Gmail's Meetings tab will no longer appear in the app. Note that even with this option disabled, you will be able to join Meet meetings via Gmail.

If necessary, however, you can re-enable this feature by simply performing the previous steps and activating the option you previously disabled.

Finally, remember that Google Meet has a standalone Android app that you can download totally free to make video calls and meetings, without having to do it through Gmail. App which, among other things, has already become one of the most downloaded in the world, very close to reaching WhatsApp.
